Hi there,
let me try =P
-What first attracted you to the Movement? I can't seem to find a straight answer to this... so here's how I found it: A cousin some years ago told me he found an internet site of a bunch of people who think we were made by aliens, meaning rael.org obviously. I responded that this is nonsense as we evolved (which makes sense if you are told that in school and is on TV talked about as fact rather than theory. After a week or 2, I remembered the site adress which sounded interesting for an unknown reason. So I checked it out. I was always curious about ufos and at that time was beginning to wonder if there is any reason why a technologically advanced civilisation would want to appear in our skies and even be visible and so on. So I downloaded the free e-book to see what it's about..... I planned to look at a few pages for some laughs maybe, but ended up reading the whole book at 2 in the morning XD While reading it everything was getting clearer and a bigger picture was forming out of all the thoughts that were unanswered and mysterious before... it's hard to describe. So I wasn't attracted by one thing first or soemthing like that. When I found and read it, a lot of stuff finally made perfect sense. if this answers it =)
-How did you hear about it? Answer to question nr.1 got this one xD
-As mentioned in a previous thread, what do you think about the Order of Angels? I don't really think anything much of it as I have not yet gathered enough information... but how I understand it, even when we are really close to singularity and the Elohim would be about to return to the embassy, we'd still have a very different culture, specifically machism and less feminity and refinement than they are used too. So the order of angels is a group of women (probably because they're drastically more feminine already from being brought up that way, though it would be illogical if it was strictly for women, so I assume it's not), whose goal is developing feminine atributes and such, and when the Elohim would finally arrive, the angels would be as close as possible to how the Elohim are on their planet and therefore the most suiting people to be their primary comrades. There's probably more about the order but as I said I'd have to inform myself to get more accurate...
-A few years ago there was claims from the Rael Movement that they had cloned the first human baby. What do you think about this? This is a lie. The Raelian movement is not engaging in cloning, it supports the technology and it's development. Clonaid is the company which claimed this. Just because the head of the Clonaid is a raelian, it doesn't mean the movement is involved with the companies actions. If a catholic claimed he had cloned a human, you probably wouldn't say the catholic church claims it cloned humans, would you? =/
-How do you feel when people describe the Movement as a cult? Well depends on what the word cult means to them. If they truly understand it's ethymological meaning then it wouldn't be a problem. btw: http://rael.org/e107_plugins/faq/faq.php?cat.1.15

thats a very good answer mikey
what first attracted me to the movement?? well i think it was the freedom of self expression and the non conformist views.
cant remember how i first found out about it, i'm just glad that i did
I dont realy know enough about the Order of Angels to make an informed opinion of it. From what i hear there realy nice ladys who are trying to make the world a better place.
What do i think about the claimed human cloning? I think its brilliant. A great step forward for science and human kind. but thats all to do with clonaid and not the raelians.
What i feel about people describing the movement as a cult?
well it depends on the persons view of the word "cult". If they think a cult are a group of people who are strange or sinister, then i might have a problem.
But if they think a cult is another word religon (which it kinda is) then so be it. Charon covers this better.
Rambling honest tangent, i think i could manage that lol.
From what i'v found (and this is just my opinion, as i don't speak for, well, anyone) the movement is a peacefull and benign organisation. It has helped me descover more about myself than i could possibaly have imagined. The philosophy is one of inner peace, truly connecting with others, happiness and wellbeing. The teachings ask us to think for ourselves, to descover whats best for us in a very rational way. Of all the Raelians i have spoken to, they have all been very honest and down to earth (pardon the pun) people and i enjoy spending time talking to them.
I hope this is helpfull, if you have any questions just ask.
I'd quite like to see your article when its done
peace n love Charlotte xxx

Hi Chris,
As an outsider, if I could ask you, the questions you've asked, could you answer them yourself please? I would be interested to hear what your thoughts are...

Hey Baroni and everyone else.
Thats a fair question, so I'll give it a go.
Answer to Q1 and and Q2: I first heard about Raelism when I was on twitter because I was thinking about writing an article about religions moving online, more specifically on twitter. I searched 'religious organisations' an found Raelism and realised it had about 14, 000 followers. I went to the homepage from it to see what it was all about as I had never heard of the movement before. My first impressions of it were that it was a strange concept to base a religion or movement on the word of one mans personal experiences. Without sounding disrespectful, the idea of aliens coming down to earth and telling a human that they created us did sound quite far fetched. However, I do greatly respect the messages that the movement proclaims of non-conformism, spirituality and tolerance. I think we could learn a lot from the movement, but I would personally be far too skeptical to actually embrace it.
Order of angels? Well, this also seems quite curious from my point of view. I understand how the human race would need to welcome the Elohim to earth if they were to return, but whether we need a group of women training to do this is questionable in my opinion. Again, I'm welcome to hearing other peoples views about the order and any further information you have about them
Cloning?
I'm sorry for implying earlier that Raelians had cloned a baby. However, it does seem unusual for a religious movement to embrace such a concept. I personally believe we should invest in healthcare to prolong life, but cloning is an issue whether I'm intrested about the latest developments, but wouldnt want to see it on a massive scale.
Is the movement a cult? I see the movement as more of a religious organisation and set of beliefs. Obviously, as it says on the Rael website, it depends on what you define as a cult.

Anyone is welcome to comment on my views too.
I would also like to ask how popular the movement is in Britain at the moment? Obviously, there are meetings and a British headquarters in London, but how many people on average attend and how many followers do you think there are in Britain?
There also seems to be a lot of conjecture about the total number of followers around the world, from 50-100, 000. Therefore I would welcome any views about how many people actually follow the Rael Movement
Do you think the movement is continuing to grow in popularity or starting to stagnate?
How do you think the likes of twitter, the media and this website have effected the representation of the Rael Movement?

Hi Chris
thank you for your interest in our philosophy
unforntunatly there is no planned meetings i know of in you area but there is some lovely Raelians in Bristol if you wanted to make a trip, i'm sure something could be arranged
to help answer your questions, i have not been a 'tweeter' but our website here and the other Raelian sites really help spread what being Raelian stands for, its not just all about spreading the messages, but trying to put forward new ideas, science and contraversal issues.
can i ask you a question? how many sites do you know of that have been set up by the Raelian movement officially?? (not counting the sites for different countries)
i personally think our UK website has given a portal to interested people who can come chat and get our views about our philosopy, i can be a big step for some people who have been socially conditioned to fear organizations such as us, and even more so to friends and family - so having a forum and nice website they can make contact first and get more information before deciding to make a choice to join our movement.
numbers around the world eh...thats a hard one!! i dont think i can honestly say, people come, people go and then usually come back again hehehe!!! sometimes it can be very challenging being Raelian even for 'older' members sorry i cannot be more help here
in the UK i would say around a few hundred of people are officially Raelian with many more (hundreds maybe a few thousand) who have not made an official Raelian baptism, for whatever reasons, but its really growing fast especially because the current climate in the UK is making lots of people question society and what they were conditioned with education, life etc. and now with Disclosure about to happen this will increase 100 fold
ohhh and yes, we are a cult! but i want you to look into the emtymology of the word for yourself, also look up religion thats another interesting one too!!! we have been severley socially condition about these words and what they represent we have in fact lost the meaning for them
i hope thats enough to chew on now, kinda busy today but i will get back to some of the answers to your own questions too
